TSPay exposes these categories as human-readable identifiers that you can use to restrict virtual card usage to specific merchant types.
When allowedCategories is set on a card, only authorization attempts from merchants whose category matches one of the listed identifiers will be accepted. All others will be declined at authorization time. MCC filtering is evaluated against the MCC received in the authorization request from the merchant of record.
Each TSPay platform operates with a predefined allowlist of merchant categories configured by TSPay. Integrations may further restrict this list using allowedCategories, but cannot authorize categories outside the platform allowlist.

Most travel and supplier payment integrations need only a small subset of the full category list. The configurations below cover the most common use cases and are a safe starting point before tuning based on live authorization data.

Important for travel integrations : The merchant charging the card is often not the airline or hotel directly. It is frequently an intermediary such as an OTA, aggregator, or corporate travel platform. If MCC restrictions are too narrow, cards may decline on legitimate bookings.
Common scenario : A hotel booked through Booking.com or Expedia authorizes under MCC 4722 (Travel Agencies / Tour Operators), not MCC 7011 (Hotels). Restricting allowedCategories to hotels_motels_and_resorts only will cause these transactions to decline.

Verify the category identifier against this reference and confirm the category is included in your account’s platform allowlist. Provide the correlationId when contacting TSPay support.
The category identifiers accepted for your account depend on your platform allowlist configuration. The OpenAPI specification defines the schema for the allowedCategories field, but the exact set of permitted values for your account is determined by your platform configuration.
